La Rosière has been nominated by the Where to Ski and Snowboard Guide 2006 as one of the top areas for outstanding snowfall and snowcover...«This modern resort sits in an elevated position at the end of the long Tarentaise valley, which runs roughly SW-NE. Both the village and the ski area are open to storms from the west and south-west that are funnelled up the Tarentaise valley. La Rosière receives the full energy of these storms, and gets more snow than, for example, nearby Val DIsère, at the same altitude but in a relatively enclosed position».
La Rosière has won the accolade of FAMILLE PLUS MONTAGNE which is awarded to resorts who specialise in welcoming families and their children. The award is based on a 6 point Quality Charter with criteria relating to personalised facilities for families, events for all ages, reduced prices for children, activities for children and adults to enjoy, a medical service near to the slopes and pampering of children in resort.
Restaurant and Bars: On the slopes there are several restaurants in La Rosière, ranging from basic self-service to our recommended favourites which feature sun decks with amazing views across to Les Arcs and up to Val D´Isère. There is also a selection of very good restaurants in La Thuile, serving Aosta Valley specialities and traditional Italian cuisine, which are perfect for a lunchtime visit. Breakfast in France and lunch in Italy! We´ve had a chance to sample all the restaurants, including La Maison de Neige which you reach by a toe-rope on the back of a snowmobile as well as the chilled out Grafitti Bar and the Rascard which serves 30 different pizzas, including chocolate pizza!
